GrubMarket acquires online grocery FreshGoGo

FreshGoGo Acquisition

GrubMarket, a San Francisco-based food chain software vendor, has announced its acquisition of FreshGoGo, an online Asian grocery and specialty food e-commerce platform. The acquisition is part of GrubMarket’s effort to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing online grocery delivery market. GrubMarket provides AI-enabled enterprise resource planning tools for inventory, warehouse, and e-commerce processes.

It serves food wholesalers, distributors, brokers, and farmers needing management technology for community-supported agriculture food-buying co-ops. The acquisition of FreshGoGo is expected to enhance GrubMarket’s offerings and market presence. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but GrubMarket confirmed that FreshGoGo would continue to operate under its current leadership team post-acquisition.

FreshGoGo, based in Plainview, New York, serves over 200,000 customers across 25 states on the East Coast and Central U.S., fulfilling millions of orders. FreshGoGo’s operations rely on an advanced cold chain distribution and logistics network.

This includes a 50,000-square-foot central warehouse in New York, satellite dispatch centers in New Jersey, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Atlanta, dozens of temperature-controlled vehicles, and a network of over 200 pickup stations. Mike Xu, CEO of GrubMarket, said, “We are excited to welcome FreshGoGo, one of the largest online Asian grocery platforms in the U.S., to the GrubMarket family. FreshGoGo is a pioneer in the Asian grocery delivery market.

The company has built a strong brand and an exceptional online platform that aligns with our vision for digitally transforming the food supply chain in America.”

Xu added, “FreshGoGo has built an outstanding reputation for delivering the highest quality Asian groceries and gourmet foods, and we see enormous potential for integrating their food delivery platform with our existing technology and logistics capabilities.”

This strategic move marks another step in GrubMarket’s ongoing expansion and digital transformation of the food supply chain in the U.S. The acquisition highlights ongoing changes in the food logistics and delivery space, especially as consumer patterns shift post-pandemic and economic pressures mount. GrubMarket’s consolidation efforts indicate a strategic move to stabilize and grow its market presence in a competitive industry. The company has been actively acquiring smaller food delivery startups, aiming to fix inefficiencies in these ventures and achieve better economies of scale.

With the acquisition of FreshGoGo, GrubMarket strengthens its position as a leader in the online grocery market and reinforces its commitment to bringing fresh, affordable food to diverse communities nationwide. The company plans to continue building the world’s most comprehensive, efficient, and technology-driven food e-commerce platform.
