Based on numbers provided by BlackBerry, it appears that developers are developing native apps for the BB10 platform in greater numbers. Back in January, BlackBerry World had 70,000 apps for BB10, and about 40 percent of those were Android ports. Now just a few weeks later, the app store has grown to 100,000 apps, and only 20 percent are Android ports.
BlackBerry has made it very easy for mobile development pros to convert their Android apps for BB10. However, BlackBerry’s Martyn Mallick notes that many developers who planned to port their apps are now deciding to build native apps. He credits the release of the new BB10 phones for the increase in developer interest.
