According to tracking data from App Annie, Google Play app revenue climbed 17.9 percent between September and October, while Apple App Store revenues shrink 0.7 percent. Compared to 2011, Google Play revenue had increased 313 percent compared to 12.9 percent for Apple.
However, despite those gains, the App Store still brings in four times as much revenue as Google Play.
“The gap between global revenues on iOS and Google Play is still there,” said Bertrand Schmitt, CEO of App Annie. “But the gap is shrinking every month, creating more opportunities for publishers to generate significant revenue growth on Google Play in certain regions.”
