Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of its most inexpensive EC2 cloud computing instance ever. The new T2 instances cost just $0.013 per hour, or $9.50 per month, for on-demand access with reserved instances costing even less. That gives users access to one vCPU and 1 GiB RAM.
The caveat to these inexpensive instances is that users can access only ten percent of the CPU power with occasional bursting. That makes them suitable primarily for developers who need to run tests or websites that don’t get very much traffice.
Google Compute Engine offers a similarly priced instance that doesn’t have the same restrictions on CPU power.
