Cisco and Apple have announced that they are working together on a new strategic initiative aimed at enterprise mobile. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will optimize its networking gear for better iPhone and iPad support, and the Apple devices will have an enhanced experience when using Cisco collaboration tools.
“We are coming together to optimize Cisco networks for iOS devices and apps, integrating iPhones with Cisco environments and providing unique collaboration capabilities on iPhones and iPads,” Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins blogged. “Together, we will enable mobile apps and experiences that deliver the quality and experience we need while meeting enterprise requirements for management and security.”
The announcement could help spur more use of iPhones and iPads in the enterprise. That, in turn, could drive up the demand for enterprise mobile development teams to create new iOS apps.
