At EMC World, the EMC announced a new Hybrid Cloud package. It aims to makes it easier for enterprises to set up a private cloud computing environment and also use public cloud services where appropriate. It combines EMC storage and data protection, Pivotal CF Platform-as-a-service (PaaS), Pivotal Big Data Suite, VMware cloud management and virtualization solutions, and VMware vCloud Hybrid Service. However, companies are free to swap out the pieces for competing products.
The EMC Hybrid Cloud currently supports VMware environments only, but the company plans to add support for Microsoft and OpenStack. It comes with three user templates for business users, cloud developers and IT professionals.
