Enterprise Applications Get Social Media-Inspired Interfaces

It used to be that most enterprise applications had interfaces that were at best boring and at worst confusing. But there’s a new trend in enterprise application development to make the interfaces look more like consumer social media apps, specifically Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

“Our reasoning for aiming at a ‘consumer’ feeling design for a work application is all about getting user adoption inside the business,” says Jeff Eckerle from enterprise software development firm Deltek.

Similarly, Rob Stroud of CA Technologies explains, “There’s always going to be training involved…but we’re really looking to reduce the level of education and training required by the consumer of the technology, so that they’re immediately able to do the task and add value in their role.”
