IBM Launches Globalization Pipeline App Translation Service

IBM is offering a beta preview of Globalization Pipeline, a cloud-based service that can translate apps into different languages. For now, it can translate English apps into French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean. IBM said the tool will help mobile developers meet the needs of international users, most of whom prefer to use apps written in their native languages.

“Globalization Pipeline accommodates both the enterprise application team that may already be translating but want to adapt their processes to their new cloud development environment, and app developers new to translation who want to get started without a large investment in understanding translation processes, securing vendors, or implementing new tools,” blogged Lisa McCabe, IBM’s program director for global foundations technology.
