Six months into his tenure as CEO, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella sent out an internal email outlining his vision for the company’s future. While the lengthy note was short on specifics, it indicated that “fundamental cultural changes” are on the way and that “nothing is off the table.”
Interestingly, the email made little mention of Windows, leading some to suggest that the flagship operating system may play a smaller role in the company. Nadella did mention that the company will focus on its Azure cloud computing business, mobile devices like the Surface, and products for “dual users” who utilize Microsoft technology at work and home.
Nadella also hopes to streamline the company’s development practices and “flatten the organization,” a comment which led to speculation about job cuts. He also added, “I am committed to making Microsoft the best place for smart, curious, ambitious people to do their best work.”
