Microsoft’s Cloud Computing Business Worth $10 Billion Per Year

Microsoft delivered mixed financial results for its third fiscal quarter, but its cloud computing results were particularly strong. The software giant’s annual commercial cloud revenue is on pace to exceed $10 billion this year. “Organizations using digital technology to transform and drive new growth increasingly choose Microsoft as a partner. As these organizations turn to us, we’re seeing momentum across Microsoft’s cloud services and with Windows 10,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Business software, particularly Office 365 and Dynamics CRM and ERP, performed well for the company, as did its Intelligent Cloud offerings and Surface hardware. However, Windows revenue was down, and Windows Phone sales declined 46 percent.
