Oracle Joins OpenStack

Oracle has announced that it will become a corporate sponsor of OpenStack and that it will integrate the open source cloud computing platform into many of its products. Specifically, Oracle Linux, Solaris, Oracle Compute Cloud, Oracle Storage Cloud, Oracle ZS3 Series network attached storage, Axoim Storage Systems, StorageTek Tape Systems, and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud hardware will all get OpenStack features.

Oracle had previously purchased Nimbula, a developer of OpenStack-compatible cloud computing software, earlier this year.

Other OpenStack supporters include Red Hat, HP, Rackspace, IBM, Cisco, and VMware, and OpenStack users include Comcast, PayPal and the Gap.
