Twitter has announced that it is releasing CocoaSPDY, a SPDY framework for OS X and iOS, under an open source license. SPDY is an alternative to HTTP that improves Web page load time and security.
Twitter’s mobile development team has incorporated CocaSPDY into its own iOS app. They say the new technology has decreased latency by up to 30 percent and that the performance improvements are most noticeable when a “user’s network conditions get worse.”
It’s fairly easy to incorporate CocoaSPDY into an app, and the source code is available at GitHub.
