Question:
When I install my application on another machine other than my own, my application cannot find the report (.RPT) file I want to use. What could be the problem?
Answer:
There are a few things to check for. First of all, make sure that you are actually installing the RPT file in the application’s home directory. Next, and most importantly, specify the entire pathname to the report file in the appropriate property on the Crystal Reports control. This is most likely the problem you are having. If you need to, store the installation directory during the installation process.
From your application, read that registry setting so that you can create the full pathname to your Crystal Reports report file. Don’t assume that VB will use the current directory, since it won’t necessarily do that.
