Question:
I’d like to implement a script on my Web site that I’ve seen on other sites. This script asks visitors to register for free through a form as a requirement for browsing a company database. When visitors browse the database and spot a company (or companies) they’re interested in, they can click on an e-mail link. This link opens up a Web page that has a form with their personal information already filled out, so they just need to add their message and send it away. I assume this is done through cookies, but which script allows me to set and retrieve those cookies so that they fill preset gaps in a given form?
Answer:
It is more likely that the code uses Active Server Pages to access the data. It is easy to pre-set HTML controls with the value of a field from a database by mixing the HTML with the ASP. Note that the recordset field is used as the value property of the HTML textbox.
<%@ Language=VBScript %><%Set RS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")RS.Open "Select * From Authors","FileDSN=Pubs"%>>
