Market research firm Gartner has released a new report that predicts growth in enterprise software budgets over the next two years. According to the survey, companies are planning to spend more on both on-premise software and software as a service (SaaS). Enterprises said customer relationship management (CRM) applications were their highest priority, followed by enterprise resource planning (ERP) and office productivity. Security and virtualization software also ranked highly.
The survey also revealed regional differences. Enterprises in emerging markets were more likely than those in mature markets to be increasing their software budgets. In addition, while mature markets favor public cloud computing, emerging markets were more interested in private clouds.
