Changing Default File Extensions in Visual InterDev 6

Some Webmasters prefer to use the file extension .html instead of just .htm for their Web pages. When you start a new HTML file in Visual InterDev 6, it uses .htm. However, you can change the template that VID uses so that you’ll never have to touch the extension again. First, close Visual InterDev, then go into C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual StudioVintDev98TemplatesWeb Project Items and rename the file New HTML Page.htm to New HTML Page.html. Likewise, go into C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual StudioVintDev98Templates NewFileItems and rename the file New HTML Page.htm to New HTML Page.html. From now on your HTML pages will start life with the longer extension.
