Survey: More than 90% of Enterprises Happy with Big Data Projects

A new Accenture survey of 1,000 companies that have completed at least one big data project finds that enterprises are overwhelmingly happy with the results of those projects. In fact, 92 percent were satisfied with the business outcomes of big data projects, and 94 percent said big data projects helped them meet customer needs.

“A vast majority of users (89 percent) believe Big Data will revolutionize business operations in the same way the Internet did,” the report noted. “Nearly as many (85 percent) feel Big Data will dramatically change the way they do business. Almost eight in 10 users (79 percent) agree that ‘companies that do not embrace Big Data will lose their competitive position and may even face extinction.’ Even more (83 percent) have pursued Big Data projects in order to seize a competitive edge.”

Security remains the biggest obstacle to implementing big data projects, followed by budget and lack of talent.
