The latest update for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” brings a significant graphical enhancement with the addition of full path tracing support for NVIDIA RTX GPUs. This computationally intensive feature, which was absent in the review build, offers ray-traced sun shadows, reflections, and indirect illumination, resulting in a visually stunning experience. Youtuber Tyrian showcased the improvements in a comparison video, demonstrating the obvious visual enhancements when path tracing is enabled.

However, this mode comes with a substantial performance impact, even on high-end GPUs like the RTX 4080. To manage the performance hit, players can use DLSS Super Resolution set to Performance and activate DLSS Frame Generation. The RTX 4090 remains the best choice for full path tracing until its successor launches next month.

The update also fixes several bugs, including an HDR and DLSS issue that sometimes caused a moiré effect.

Path tracing elevates game visuals

MachineGames has announced plans to integrate AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) in a future update, catering to AMD users.

A known issue exists where the game runs slower than intended when starting with DLSS enabled. As a temporary workaround, the developers recommend switching from DLSS to TAA and then back until a permanent fix is released. “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” is now available on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and Game Pass.

The PlayStation 5 version will launch next Spring. As highlighted in the review, the game is an exceptional adventure/action title, featuring one of the best Indiana Jones stories, rewarding level design, and superb ray-traced visuals, potentially making it the best game dedicated to Dr. Henry Walton to date.
