A pair of surveys from Toptal and Devpost are calling attention to weaknesses in the developer recruitment and hiring process. Twenty-five percent of those surveyed by Devpost said that behavioral and technical interviews are the worst part of the hiring process, and 65 percent said they would prefer take-home coding projects to technical interviews.
Toptal found that 48 percent of job candidates wish that employers would be more transparent about the job hiring process, and 44 percent said that they wish employers would disclose the salary range for positions. In addition, 78 percent said they prefer in-person interviews, and 80 percent said they would like flexible hours.
