At the Surge conference in Baltimore, developers complained about Amazon’s cloud computing services, but agreed that they are still better than the alternative. Andy Parsons, CTO for startup Bookish, complained about latency issues with Amazon’s cloud-based storage systems, but said he stayed with the AWS because, “the devil you know is better than the devil you don?t.”
Heroku’s Mark Imbriaco bemoaned the troubleshooting issues that arise with Amazon’s services and detailed the impact Amazon outages had on his company. However, his company also decided to stay with Amazon as its cloud provider.
