Enterprise Java Developers Get Force.com Cloud Access

Until now, Java developers have found it difficult to move their apps to the cloud. “The whole idea is you have these 6 million Java developers, and they want an enterprise-class cloud to deploy their applications on,” said Salesforce.com’s Eric Stahl.

Today, Salesforce.com and VMware have announced a new cloud framework called “VMforce” that will fill that need. It combines three different technologies—Salesforce.com’s Force.com cloud, VMware virtualization and VMware’s SpringSource products—into a single solution that should simplify Java cloud development.

The companies have not yet announced details on pricing or when VMforce will become available to customers.
