Many enterprises face a challenge in finding developers who can work on the mission-critical applications that run on mainframes. Compuware’s Neil Richards notes, “Many of the people [in IT] don’t have the skills to handle the old menu-driven software and are more comfortable with a GUI-based approach. We’re offering them a way to work with this.”
The way Compuware is offering is a new Eclipse-based GUI called Compuware Workbench. By taking an open-source standards-based approach, Compuware hopes to make the tool useful to more developers.
