According to S. Somasegar, Vice President of Microsoft’s Developer Division, the upcoming release of Visual Studio 11 will feature several new language specific features. They include the following:
- For JavaScript: support for ECMAScript 5, improvements to IntelliSense, debugging improvements, a new DOM Explorer and a new REPL (Read-Evaluate-Print Loop).
- For Visual Basic/C#: better support for asynchronous programming.
- For C++: reference highlighting, semantic colorization, better support for parallel programming and the ability to build native Windows Metro apps.
- For F#: the introduction of F# 3.0 and the Type Provider functionality.
