At AT&T’s Developer Summit, CTO John Donovan announced a new cloud computing initiative known as AT&T Cloud Architect. According to Donovan, the company plans to create “a developer-centric cloud” with low-cost access to AT&T’s hosting services. He said that both public and private cloud options would be available through the service and promised more details in the coming weeks.
As part of the same announcement, Donovan also said that AT&T has joined the open source Open Stack cloud architecture project. He explained that AT&T “has already contributed a blueprint for a potential new function within OpenStack, focused on transactional task management.” Three of AT&T’s data centers run on the OpenStack cloud computing platform.
