Oracle, Red Hat, CloudBees, Cloudsoft, Huawei, Rackspace and Software AG have drafted a new specification for platform as a service (PaaS) standards. Called Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP), the specifications are aimed at encouraging interoperability among cloud computing platforms. “CAMP defines a simple API that enables customers to have an interoperable solution across multiple vendors’ offerings, manage application lifecycles easily, and move applications between clouds,” explained Oracle’s Don Deutsch.
The companies plan to continue working on CAMP and to release within 18 months a new document that defines interfaces for the most widely available platform services.
