Google Releases Realtime API

Developers who have enjoyed the real-time collaboration features on Google Drive will now find it easier to add similar capabilities to their own apps. The company has released the Google Drive Realtime API, which, in Google’s words, “handles network communication, storage, presence, conflict resolution, and other collaborative details so you can focus on building great apps.”

Developers can try out the new API at the Drive Realtime API Playground, but they do need to have signed up for access to the Drive API first.
