AWS Announces Three New Cloud Development Tools

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched three new development tools called CodeDeploy, CodeCommit and CodePipeline. CodeDeploy makes it easier to deploy applications on a fleet of Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) instances. “It can accommodate fleets that range in size from one instance all the way up to tens of thousands of instances,” blogged Jeff Barr, chief evangelist for AWS.

CodeCommit will host Git repositories in the cloud, and CodePipeline automates the software release process. CodeDeploy is available now, but AWS didn’t give release dates for CodeCommit and CodePipeline.

The company also announced a new cloud database service it calls Amazon RDS for Aurora. AWS says it is fully compatible with MySQL 5.6 but is five times faster. It is currently available as a free technology preview.
