Ubisoft has released the patch notes for Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.0.5. This update brings new content and improvements to the game. One of the main additions is a crossover with the game Balatro. Players can find a Balatro Trinket for both Naoe and Yasuke called “Winning Hand”.

This trinket can apply afflictions on combo enders. However, Ubisoft did not provide details on how to get the trinket. They suggest players will need to work together to figure it out.

The update also unlocks the pre-order bonus quest “Thrown to the Dogs” for all players. In this quest, players help a loyal dog avenge his late master. Completing the quest unlocks Tsuki-maru as a pet for the player’s Hideout.

The quest can be found at the Tennoji Temple outside of Osaka after completing the quest “From Spark to Flame”. Another addition is a collaboration event with the game Dead by Daylight. In this event, villagers begin to disappear and Naoe investigates a strange presence attacking locals in Harima.

Players will need to master unique mechanics to confront an otherworldly threat.

New content and major improvements

The event comes with a new free quest accessible from the Hideout after unlocking Yasuke as a playable character.

Completing the event rewards players with a free trinket and banner. Players can also purchase a Dead by Daylight-inspired pack to further customize their characters. The update also brings improvements to the parkour mechanics.

A new Vertical Jump allows Naoe and Yasuke to jump and grab ledges, awnings, or overhangs within reach. This reduces the reliance on vertical wall-runs. The Sprint Toggle Lock prevents sprint from disengaging when using Parkour Up or Parkour Down, as long as directional inputs are maintained.

The distance and height of side and back ejects have also been improved. Photo Mode receives its biggest update for an Assassin’s Creed game with new features to customize shots. Players can change the time of day, use numerous poses and facial expressions, toggle headgear on/off, play music while editing shots, and more.

The update also includes various bug fixes and improvements. These include fixing issues with quests, localization, the Mon economy, visual issues, and more. Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.0.5 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 27, 2025.
