BSNL has officially named its 5G service “Quantum 5G” and launched Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in select regions. The announcement was made on the company’s official social media account on Wednesday. The new FWA service aims to provide high-speed internet to enterprises without requiring a SIM card.
According to the launch page on BSNL’s website, the service will offer wireless, fast, secure, reliable, and affordable connectivity. Prices start at Rs 999 for enterprise internet lease lines. BSNL has also signed an agreement with Polycab India Limited to improve rural connectivity in Karnataka, Goa, and Puducherry.
This partnership is part of the Amended BharatNet Project funded by the Department of Telecommunications under the Digital Bharat Network program. The goal is to deliver high-speed broadband to all inhabited Gram Panchayats and villages in these regions.
Bsnl introduces new wireless service
In addition, BSNL has made progress in expanding its network infrastructure. The company has installed around 100,000 4G towers over the past year. Approximately 70,000 of these towers are currently active and performing well.
By launching Quantum 5G and forming strategic partnerships, BSNL is positioning itself to compete in India’s growing telecommunications market. The company engaged the public to suggest names for its new 5G service, which will be rolled out alongside its 4G network once it becomes stable. BSNL thanked the public for their support and participation in the naming campaign.
The company stated that the name “Quantum 5G” reflects the power, speed, and future of BSNL’s 5G network. Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications will soon seek Cabinet approval for the next phase of BSNL’s 4G rollout. This follows the successful installation of 100,000 towers equipped with advanced 4G technology.
