According to sources familiar with the matter, the Department of Homeland Security is preparing for significant staffing cuts across various agencies, including the US Secret Service. The Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, is expected to introduce these reductions, which may impact several DHS components such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is anticipated to email department personnel soon, detailing the expected cuts and offering potential employee options, like voluntary separations and early retirements.
However, sources suggest that key decisions are being driven by top Trump aide Stephen Miller, DOGE, and other White House staff, despite Noem’s name appearing on the email.
