The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 25 suspected internet fraudsters in Makurdi, Benue State locations. The arrests were carried out on Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9, 2025, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in cybercrimes. According to a statement released by the EFCC, operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate made the arrests as part of ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud in the region.

The suspects were apprehended at various locations within the Makurdi metropolis. During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered several items from the suspects, including three cars, five laptops, 22 phones, and three motorcycles. These items will be used as evidence in the investigation and prosecution of the suspects.

Internet fraud crackdown in Makurdi

The EFCC has stated that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations. The commission remains committed to fighting economic and financial crimes, including internet fraud, which has become a growing concern in recent years.
