Looks like more Musk-linked HQs are coming to Texas with SpaceX and X/Twitter, joining Tesla and the Boring Co, which have already been HQed in the Austin-area https://t.co/J1Tt8AW5bm

Elon Musk has announced that he will move the headquarters of his companies SpaceX and X from California to Texas. Musk made the decision in response to a new California law signed by Governor Gavin Newsom. The law prohibits school districts from requiring parents to be notified if a child wishes to change their gender identification.
CHECKING OUT OF HOTEL CALIFORNIA. I don't blame Musk – Communism 101: government comes between parents and children. @elonmusk @SpaceX https://t.co/ln7kGRiAnx pic.twitter.com/p7iR1irGvQ

In a series of posts on X, Musk called the law “the final straw.” He said that this law, along with others previously enacted, has made it untenable for him to continue operating his companies in California. SpaceX’s headquarters will relocate from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas. Starbase is a company town being constructed in the southern part of the state.
Elon REALLY hates trans people, my God: “…he would move the headquarters of 2 of his businesses, the social media platform X and the rocket manufacturer SpaceX, from Calif. to Texas in protest against a new law designed to protect transgender children.” https://t.co/AMOBTpvUJH

Musk moves SpaceX, X headquarters
The headquarters for X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, will move from San Francisco to Austin, Texas. This move follows a trend for Musk towards Texas.
In February, SpaceX filed to move its business incorporation location from Delaware to Texas. Musk has frequently expressed his dissatisfaction with Californian policies and governance. He has hinted at potential relocations over the past few years.

In 2021, Musk had already shifted the corporate headquarters of his automaker Tesla from Palo Alto, California, to Austin. Representatives from X, SpaceX, and Governor Newsom’s office have been contacted for comments on the relocations.
