Hurricane season is approaching, and meteorologists Bob Henson and Jeff Masters are asking for help to cover the storms. They write for Eye on the Storm, a publication that provides life-saving coverage of extreme weather events. In March, Jeff reported on staff cuts at NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters.
Within a week of publication, flight crew members were reinstated, ensuring the National Hurricane Center can continue using data gathered by these Hurricane Hunters to forecast when and where hurricanes will make landfall. Bob and Jeff have started a campaign to raise funds for their hurricane coverage. They are asking readers to consider becoming monthly donors.
To thank supporters, those who become monthly donors will be invited to join an exclusive conversation with Jeff and Bob over Zoom later this summer.
Hurricane coverage donation campaign launched
The campaign aims to raise $20,000 by midnight.
Every donation helps protect more people. Bob and Jeff know that with the help of their readers, they will be able to produce life-saving coverage that reaches even more people this year. Eye on the Storm is not funded directly by Yale University, so donors of all types are essential to keep their work going.
Every bit of support makes a difference. If you would like to donate by check, make it out to “Yale University” and write “For Yale Climate Connections” on the check. Mail it to: Yale University, Attn: Development Office, 205 Prospect Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
Bob and Jeff thank their readers for their support as they prepare for the imminent hurricane season.
