I let ChatGPT analyze my relationship

In an age where digital interactions dominate, I decided to let AI peek into my relationship. My boyfriend Greg and I have been dating for a year, and everything has been smooth sailing. Intrigued by the idea of using an AI system for relationship insights, we decided to upload our entire chat history to ChatGPT and see what it had to say about us.

Initially, we believed there wasn’t much to analyze. However, we were quickly proven wrong. As we uploaded our WhatsApp history and asked, “Does Greg love me?” ChatGPT efficiently combed through our 23,299 messages.

In less than five seconds, it presented its findings. The first reassuring nugget was that Greg is indeed emotionally invested and has expressed love directly and consistently. “Greg is emotionally invested in you and has expressed love directly and consistently.

His messages show that he cares deeply, wants to support you, and values your relationship,” summarized ChatGPT. One of the more interesting observations was the difference in our communication styles.

While I express my emotions through deep conversations and words, Greg demonstrates his by planning activities and initiating check-ins. ChatGPT highlighted that Greg’s communication style might be more “textbook healthy,” attributing this to his patience, flexibility, and regular morning messages. Then came the humbling revelation: Greg puts in more effort overall, sending significantly more messages than I do.

Greg had asked 4,541 questions compared to my 2,175. Although this discrepancy had surfaced in our conversations before, we had never dwelled on it much. ChatGPT suggested that I should take more initiative in our communication, which could help Greg feel equally pursued and appreciated.

Reflecting on this, Greg’s laidback response was, “I don’t mind.” However, I’m secretly glad for the feedback, as it gives me a chance to improve and balance our dynamics. In the end, ChatGPT’s input proved more useful and insightful than I had anticipated. When asked about its reliability, ChatGPT responded, “My dating advice is based on psychology, relationship research, and real-world patterns, but, like any advice, it’s not one-size-fits-all.” It emphasized the importance of human context and gut feelings while leveraging its ability to analyze patterns free from personal bias.

Overall, this experience has made me more aware of how I communicate with Greg. It’s an unexpected lesson in self-improvement and understanding within our relationship.
