MediaTek is showcasing several key technologies at Mobile World Congress 2025 that enable the wireless evolution towards 6G. The company is demonstrating its innovative Hybrid Computing that converges device cloud and RAN as an ‘edge cloud.’ This technology facilitates low latency in activities such as Generative AI, carrier-grade privacy, personal data governance, and dynamic computing resource scheduling.
MediaTek’s Envelope-Assisted RFFE System boosts power amplifier efficiency by 25%, decreasing device heating rates and widening the addressable bandwidth by over 100MHz within the same power envelope. This allows higher power delivery for more extensive coverage. Sub-band full Duplex technology, crucial for 5G-Advanced and 6G, significantly enhances unpaired TDD spectrum, improving uplink coverage and reducing latency.
MediaTek, in cooperation with Keysight, is demonstrating a breakthrough in mitigating SBFD self-interference, a common issue in small devices like smartphones. The upcoming M90 5G-Advanced modem, supporting speeds up to 12Gbps, will feature simultaneous FR1+FR2 connectivity and a novel Smart Antenna technology that uses AI for user scenario identification. It also boasts MediaTek’s UltraSave technology, which reduces average power consumption by up to 18% compared to previous models.
MediaTek unveils M90’s advanced features
During MWC 2025, MediaTek showcased 10Gbps throughput using FR1 3CC + FR2 8CC on a live Ericsson network. MediaTek is also unveiling its Generative AI infrastructure, which provides Gen-AI functionality to all connected devices beyond smartphones and smart home devices.
This decentralization enhances device capabilities and fosters broader service adoption without compromising data privacy and security. MediaTek continues to lead in 5G-Advanced Non-Terrestrial Network technology with its new field trial of Ku-band NR-NTN over commercial OneWeb LEO satellites, conducted in collaboration with multiple partners. With rapid advancements in automotive technology, MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto platform highlights significant multimedia, 3D graphics, and AI processing capabilities across multiple virtual machines on a hypervisor.
Their eCockpit features an 8K display developed with strategic partners. MediaTek’s 224G SerDes technology represents a substantial technological leap, offering exceptional performance, reliability, and efficiency. This solution meets the demanding interconnect needs of AI, hyperscale computing, and data centers, driving the next generation of AI acceleration.
MediaTek’s President, Joe Chen, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing connectivity and AI applications with high-quality products that create new opportunities to enrich everyday lives globally. The company’s latest developments in 6G-era technologies, generative AI hybrid computing, and 5G-Advanced solutions are set to be game-changers in the industry.
