Nvidia and xAI are set to join an initiative in raising $30 billion to expand AI infrastructure. The effort, which was first announced in September, seeks to fund new data centers dedicated to powering advanced AI products. In addition to Nvidia and xAI, GE Vernova and NextEra Energy are also participating in the partnership, known as the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP).
These companies will help accelerate the development and scaling of diverse energy solutions for the new AI data centers. The AIP has already garnered substantial interest and capital since its inception, although it has not disclosed the specific amount raised so far.
Nvidia joins AI infrastructure push
“We believe this unparalleled partnership of leading global companies across the AI ecosystem brings technology expertise together with private capital to meet this demand,” said BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. Nvidia shares rose by 1% in premarket trading on Wednesday, following a 3% decline on Tuesday after the GTC Conference where CEO Jensen Huang presented. Shares of Microsoft, BlackRock, GE Vernova, and NextEra Energy showed little change on Wednesday morning.
This significant collaboration underscores the growing commitment among tech giants and investment firms to build the infrastructure necessary to support the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies. Through innovative energy solutions and substantial private capital, the AIP aims to pave the way for future advancements in AI.
