NVIDIA’s CEO appears apprehensive about the massive adoption of ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) by tech companies, as these chips present a significant challenge to the company’s stronghold over the AI infrastructure market. While NVIDIA currently holds a dominant position in the AI training markets, history suggests that such monopolies are rarely permanent. It would also grant them independence from market demand and supply chain delays, giving them a competitive edge. With companies like Broadcom leading the race, NVIDIA will have to acknowledge the upcoming competition. Although ASICs offer various advantages over traditional hardware solutions, the transition to widespread adoption will depend on overcoming the initial high costs and technical hurdles.
