Pixee, a Baltimore-based startup, has secured $15 million in seed funding to automate code security for developers using generative AI tools. The round was led by Decibel and Wing VC, with participation from TEDCO, PrimeSet, and strategic investors like Zach Holman, Alex Rice, and Brian Chess. Pixee’s founders, Surag Patel and Arshan Dabirsiaghi, aim to use agentic AI and deterministic techniques to streamline cybersecurity.

Their approach is expected to enable patching vulnerabilities in just days. IDC projects that by 2027, 70% of corrective code fixes for application security issues will be generated by AI-assisted automated remediation tools. Patel and Dabirsiaghi have extensive industry experience.

Patel has held leadership roles at Contrast Security, 41st Parameter, comScore, and InMobi. Dabirsiaghi co-founded cybersecurity unicorn Contrast Security and is a prominent application security expert.

Pixee’s AI-backed security measures

“Developers are more prolific today than ever before, especially those leveraging the latest genAI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Co-pilot,” said Patel. Pixee focuses on capabilities like automated code fixes directly into developer workflows and automating expert triage for security, allowing enterprises to ship secure code faster. TEDCO’s investment in Pixee aims to foster a sustainable workforce pipeline for Maryland’s cybersecurity businesses.

Maryland’s concentration of STEM researchers and workers, along with its status as a global cybersecurity hub, was a driving factor for the investment. Pixee’s product integrates with developer workflows, creating pull requests with ready-to-accept code. Early enterprise customers have recaptured 91% of developer remediation time and cut security triage time by 74%.

Automated code fixes achieve a 76% merge rate. The new capital will accelerate Pixee’s product development and expansion of its go-to-market team. The company plans to scale adoption among enterprises and capture the growing demand for its AI-powered solution.
