Qatar has entered into an agreement with Scale AI to implement artificial intelligence technologies aimed at enhancing its government services. The partnership seeks to leverage advanced AI solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery within the public sector. The collaboration is expected to bring about significant improvements in public resource management, data processing, and customer service experiences.
This move aligns with global trends where nations are increasingly relying on AI to modernize their public service infrastructure. Scale AI has secured a five-year deal with Qatar, which it claims could be a “blueprint” for working with other governments around the world. The partnership will support Qatar’s National Development Strategy and Digital Agenda 2030, aiming to modernize government operations.
Scale AI will apply AI-driven approaches to a range of functions such as improving legal processes, regulatory reviews, and healthcare administration. The company is exploring how AI can personalize education, optimize urban planning, strengthen financial systems, and build sustainability initiatives.
Qatar’s transformative AI partnership
“This deal can be a blueprint for other governments around the world, and it allows us to really commit in a way that could drive impact even faster,” said Trevor Thompson, global head of growth at Scale AI. Last year, Scale AI raised $1 billion from investors, leading to a valuation of $14 billion. The funding round was led by Accel and included notable names like Nvidia and ServiceNow.
Scale AI plays a leading role in generative artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs), focusing on accurately labeling data before it can be effectively used. The company is not only working with tech firms but also increasingly collaborating with government entities. In August 2023, Scale AI won a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to advance AI capabilities across the military.
Additionally, it launched Donovan, an AI-powered decision-making platform and the first LLM deployed to a U.S. government classified network. The partnership between Scale AI and Qatar represents a significant step in the global application of AI technologies to governmental operations. This collaboration highlights the potential for AI to drive efficiency and modernization in diverse sectors worldwide.
