The first significant update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has arrived, bringing a major nerf to the character Maelle and addressing various bugs. Developer Sandfall Interactive announced they would reduce the power of Stendhal, one of Maelle’s most potent skills. This ability allowed players to achieve incredibly high damage, making the game too easy.
The damage of Stendhal has been reduced by 40% to better align with the game’s balance. Additionally, Maelle’s sword, Medalum, was fixed. At level 20, it incorrectly doubled all damage in Maelle’s Virtuose Stance instead of just the intended burn damage.
Major update adjusts Maelle’s abilities
The update also resolves several bugs. Esquie will no longer get stuck while navigating the world map.
The issue preventing players from shooting due to “worn triggers” has been fixed as well. Sandfall Interactive confirmed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will not receive downloadable content (DLC). Instead, they will focus on improving the base game.
This update is the first in a series planned over the coming months to fine-tune the game and provide a more balanced, bug-free experience for players.
