Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador Nawaf Al Maliki met with Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday in Islamabad. They discussed the positive trajectory of relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The two sides focused on enhancing cooperation in different sectors.
These included education, trade, and investment. The Federal Education Secretary briefed the meeting on an upcoming conference in Islamabad. The conference will be about girls’ education in Muslim countries.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment. They want to strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Senior officials have recently discussed the upcoming global conference on girls’ education with an ambassador.
The event will be held in Islamabad in September this year. It will partner with the Muslim World League (MWL). The main goal of the three-day conference is to explore and create effective strategies.
Enhancing Saudi-Pakistan education cooperation
These strategies will be for better resource allocation to promote girls’ education globally. The Malala Fund says that 12 million girls are out of school.
Only 13 percent of girls advance to grade IX. The organization says this is due to social norms, such as gender stereotypes and a preference for educating boys over girls. The ambassador and a deputy prime minister discussed the positive trajectory of fraternal relations between the two countries.
They also talked about enhancing cooperation in education, trade, and investment. They emphasized a commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial bilateral ties. The conference is expected to have a diverse group of international and national dignitaries.
These will include education ministers from many Islamic countries. Eminent scholars, education experts, policymakers, and various other stakeholders will attend. They will share their expertise, experiences, and best practices in the field of girls’ education.
A state broadcaster also highlighted that the conference aims to address and find solutions to different challenges faced by girls in the education sector.
