The Dubai Police General Command has added the Tesla Cybertruck to its “tourist police” patrol fleet. The electric vehicle, known for its modern design, was unveiled in green and white livery. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, expressed his excitement over this development.

He responded to the announcement on social media, calling it “cool” and using a smiling face emoji. Despite its striking appearance, the Cybertruck is not expected to participate in high-speed chases.

Dubai’s luxury patrol fleet, which includes other high-end vehicles like Bugattis and Porsches, is primarily used for symbolic and promotional purposes.
There are doubts about the Cybertruck’s potential effectiveness as a police vehicle.
Every time I see a Cybertruck on the road, I’m reminded of all the skeptics who doubted its arrival, those who said it couldn’t be done, and those who dismissed it as impractical & ugly.
Today, it’s clear they were all wrong.

While Tesla claims it is bulletproof, tests have shown it can withstand small-caliber gunfire but larger weapons could damage its stainless steel exterior. Its off-road capabilities have also been questioned, with videos showing the Cybertruck struggling on sandy terrain.
Safety concerns have been raised by experts. They highlight that the truck’s rapid acceleration and robust frame could pose risks to pedestrians. The Cybertruck’s rollout since its launch last November has faced several challenges.

In April, Tesla recalled some units due to a fault that could cause the accelerator pedal to get stuck at full throttle. Owners have also reported quality issues and problems with the automatic closing front trunk.
Dubai police adds futuristic patrol vehicle
Recently, there have been delays in the delivery of some Cybertrucks due to issues with its large windshield wiper. Both Tesla and Dubai police declined to comment on these matters.
The Cybertruck comes in three performance variants:
- Single Motor RWD: This base model offers over 250 miles of range and a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.
- Dual Motor AWD: This mid-range version has dual motors, over 300 miles of range, and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.
- Tri Motor AWD: The top-tier model features three motors, over 500 miles of range, and a 14,000-pound towing capacity. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds.
The interior seats up to six adults and has a 17-inch touchscreen display. Autopilot comes standard, with Full Self-Driving available as an upgrade. The truck bed, or “vault,” is 6.5 feet long with 100 cubic feet of lockable storage.
It also has an onboard power inverter. Dubai’s integration of the Tesla Cybertruck into its police force highlights the city’s pursuit of innovation in law enforcement technology. However, it remains to be seen how effective the futuristic vehicle will be in real-world policing scenarios.
