Fishguy6564 was the last player connected to Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U online servers, which were shut down in April. He and another player, Marioiscool246, aimed to keep a lobby alive in the 3DS game Mario Kart 7 for as long as possible. They used a patch that supposedly prevented the death of a lobby and deployed two bots to race each other endlessly.
Even after Marioiscool246’s 3DS crashed, Fishguy6564 kept going for weeks and months until he became the last connected player. After 210 days, or almost seven months, Fishguy6564’s 3DS finally crashed, ending his journey.

He tweeted an image of his console displaying an error message, saying, “It’s over. Rest in peace, Nintendo Network.”
GaffsNotLaffs, the owner of the Nintendo Network After Hours Discord server, confirmed that Fishguy6564’s system had crashed, marking the end of the prolonged online presence. “The Nintendo Network is finally truly dead,” GaffsNotLaffs said.
“We can all go home now.”
Back in August, Fishguy6564 told us that “in theory, this could go on forever,” and that “the only thing that could stop me is if the 3DS somehow gave in.” Tragically, that’s exactly what ended up happening, but his determination was remarkable. The end of Fishguy6564’s run marks the official end of the Nintendo Network for 3DS and Wii U activity. All that remains now are the memories of the service and the dedication of its final players.
