Donald Trump posted a bizarre, AI-generated video on his Truth Social account, showcasing a vision for transforming Gaza into a resort town. The 30-second clip starts with scenes of destruction in Gaza, where the Israeli military waged a 15-month assault to root out Hamas militants. The video then asks, “What next?”
The clip features surreal images, including skyscrapers, Teslas driving through the streets, and an AI-generated Elon Musk eating bread dipped in hummus.
It also shows Hamas militants with full beards dancing in bikinis and belly-dancing skirts, a child holding a giant, gold Trump balloon, and Trump dancing with a scantily clad woman in a nightclub. Other scenes depict Musk showering people with cash, a “Trump Gaza” building with golden Trump merchandise, a gigantic golden Trump statue, and Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lounging topless poolside while enjoying cocktails. The video is set to an upbeat dance track with lyrics praising Trump for bringing life and freedom to Gaza.
Trump’s AI Gaza vision criticized
Trump’s plan involves expelling 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and transforming the area into a U.S.-owned “Riviera.” The proposal has been condemned by the Palestinian Authority as a violation of international law. Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen stated, “We have tried displacement before, and it will not happen again.”
The video has been widely criticized, with Wassel Abu Yousuf, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s executive committee, dismissing it as a “clowning gimmick.” A poll revealed that only 13% of Americans view the Gaza proposal positively, while 58% consider it a bad idea.
Arab leaders are set to meet in Cairo on March 4 to formulate an alternative proposal. A senior United Arab Emirates official called for a bold reconstruction plan for Gaza that includes a clear path to Palestinian statehood. Egypt, which Trump suggested could host displaced Gazans, has emphasized the importance of Palestinian self-determination.
Netanyahu, who has persistently rejected the idea of an independent Palestinian state, has endorsed Trump’s vision for Gaza. The future of Trump’s plan remains uncertain, with significant opposition and debates expected at the forthcoming Cairo summit.
