Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized Elon Musk for supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign at a political rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday. Walz mocked Musk, calling him a “dips***” and suggesting that he was trying to buy influence with his donations. “That guy is literally the richest man in the world, spending millions of dollars to help Donald Trump buy an election,” Walz said to the crowd.
He also pointed out that Trump had promised Musk a cabinet position if he wins the election, which Walz sees as a form of corruption. Musk responded to Walz’s comments on social media later that night. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk sarcastically told Walz, “You’re gonna lose, @Tim_Walz.
Saving the American people from the torture of hearing you speak for four years was worth it.” He also compared Walz to a clown emoji and shared a meme mocking the governor.
Walz criticizes Musk’s Trump support
The exchange between Walz and Musk highlights the growing tension and personal attacks in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.
Musk has donated $75 million to a pro-Trump political action committee and has reportedly been offering $1 million checks to those who sign his PAC’s petition. Experts have criticized this move as potentially illegal. Meanwhile, Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has been campaigning in battleground states and calling Trump a “fascist” who is “unfit” for office.
The race remains highly contentious, with incidents of yard sign vandalism and aggressive campaign strategies on both sides. As the election nears, early voting has begun in some states, including Minnesota, where Governor Walz cast his ballot alongside his family. The outcome of the election remains uncertain, with both candidates vying for crucial voting blocs and electoral votes in key states.
