Web app developers not only face the challenge of testing their code for initial release, they also must maintain apps so that they remain secure and continue performing at an acceptable speed through numerous browser updates. Over 2 million use the open-source Selenium Project to help with this task, but even this well-established tool cannot solve all of the challenges involved.

Now, Sauce Labs is attempting to merge Selenium with Google’s WebDriver project in the hopes of creating a more complete cross-browser testing tool.
