Confirming rumors that the company was decreasing its support for the projects, Microsoft will officially hand off control of the IronRuby and IronPython programming languages to the open source community as of November 1. However, it doesn’t appear as if Redmond is simply abandoning the projects, as it announced new external leaders for both projects and plans to continue support for the Dynamic Language Runtime in the .NET framework.
Separately, Jim Hugunin, the creator of IronPython, announced that he will be leaving Microsoft for Google.
