Analytics firm Distimo has released a new report that compares the Windows Phone 7 app store with others, including its predecessor Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Contrary to earlier reports, Distimo finds that Windows Phone 7 actually has the lowest price for all paid applications, and 57 percent of its 100 most popular apps cost less than $2.

By contrast Windows Marketplace for Mobile apps cost much more than those on the new platform. In addition, games and entertainment apps are much more popular in the newer store.
