As employees increasingly demand to be able to use their smartphones and tablet PCs for work, enterprises are beginning to develop mobile apps to support them. Unfortunately, most IT departments aren’t equipped to handle mobile application development, say researchers from Forrester.
They say that IT shops face a number of issues surrounding mobile apps: a faster than normal release cycle, security concerns, too many platforms, server-side performance issues and a lack of budget. As a result, Forrester believes that many enterprises will be looking to third-party companies to help them solve these problems.
