Microsoft Launches LightSwitch Beta 2

Microsoft has announced the availability of the second beta for its Visual Studio LightSwitch application development tool. According to Microsoft’s Dave Mendlen, LightSwitch “extracts away code and allows you to focus on the business problem you want to solve.”

The tool features a number of templates and pre-written pieces of code that make it easier to put together simple applications. Forrester analyst Jeffrey Hammond notes, “There are lots of ‘millennials’ coming into the workplace that have some basic programming skills they acquired in high school and college, I see no reason why they couldn’t use a tool like LightSwitch like my generation used Access, VB and Office to automate simple tasks and applications.”
